The Watershed Education Network (WEN) started in 1996 as a volunteer effort. After two years of running students to the river between jobs, we acquired a start-up grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. Ten years later, WEN is the watershed education hub of western Montana, offering monitoring instruction to citizen scientists, professional workshops, and experiential education programs to local schools. WEN is celebrating our 11th-year during the 2007/2008 field seasons. THANKS TO MAJOR SPONSORS: City of Missoula Wastewater Treatment Plant, Missoula Conservation District, Missoula City/County Water Quality District, Laird Norton Foundation, The Mountain Water Company, Montana DEQ Wetlands, Environmental Protection Agency.
