Watershed Education Network presents Flagship Program "Water Explorations"

WEN started a flagship program with Hellgate High School in the spring of 2004. This program offers a range of after-school activities as a way of involving teens in the greater Missoula community. WEN intern Tina Toth launched the program in the spring of 2004 with 4 students. Projects included fly fishing, cross country skiing in the Rattlesnake and water journaling. We have since expanded student numbers and scheduled events to include:

    • A Geology and Glacial Lake Missoula hike
    • Orientation and watershed mapping
    • Fly fishing with he UM Outdoor Recreation Program
    • Water Monitor Training
    • A field trip with the National Weather Station
    • Participation in the annual Watershed Festival at McCormick Park
    • Fish Population counts and electro-shocking at O'Brien Creek
    • Chemical sampling on O'Brien Creek
    • Milltown Dam and Reservoir Tour
    • Jocko Fish Hatchery Tour
