Thanks to support from The Mountaineers Foundation, WEN wrote and produced an instructional video featuring background information on stream monitoring and watershed science. The video provides a step-by-step training in the three parameters of stream monitoring as established by the Volunteer Water Monitoring Project Protocol, and can be used by citizen scientists, community watershed groups and teachers nation wide.
THE STREAM MONITORING VIDEO CAN BE USED TO:
1)
Assist participating teachers with stream monitoring in the classroom before and after a WEN field trip.
2) Provide teachers with enough background information, resources, and training to successfully lead a stream monitoring field trip in the absence of WEN’s assistance. Additionally, the video will be accessible to any citizen of Missoula and western-Montana to initiate a stream monitoring program in their local community. Since the concepts are (with some adaptations) universal, the video can also be used by teachers and citizens across the nation.
