Inspire a Child, Invest in a Watershed
The Adopt-A-Class program is a fundraising campaign that will bring WEN’s programs to more under-served and rural schools.
Why is this important?
Outdoor education, especially field trips, are rare for most schools in western Montana. For many K-12 classes, our programs provide their first guided experience at the river’s edge (read teacher testimony). WEN’s programs inspire a new generation of watershed stewards and creative minds. Working together we can bring them outside…..one classroom, one child at a time. Many classrooms in more rural and under-served schools cannot afford WEN’s programs. Help us make our river programs available to all western Montana kids by adopting a class today.
1) Pre and post fieldtrip classroom presentations.
2) Field trips to rivers, streams and wetlands.
3) Innovative, hands-on learning experiences for students in urban, rural and tribal areas in western Montana.
WEN teaches river ecology to nearly 2,500 students each year. Most of these students are located in and around the Missoula Valley, however, teachers in more rural and/or under-served areas have requested our programs too. Due to funding and capacity constraints, WEN has been unable to reach these schools.
To remedy this, WEN has kicked off a fundraising campaign to raise a total of $30,000 to support our program expansion. WEN has already raised $6,110 through our successful Mayfly Fling fundraiser and the remaining amount will be raised through our online donation campaign.
If you don’t have a school already in mind, consider donating to one of the three target schools listed in the right sidebar. These three schools are either rural and under-served and have requested our programs. If you do have a school in mind fill out the donation form and select your school, class and teacher.
You may notice there are two different campaign goal amounts. This is due to the amount of preparation and travel from our base office in Missoula.
The $500 campaign goals are for target schools within a 30 mile travel buffer from our WEN office.
The $1000 campaign goals are for target schools within a 90 mile travel buffer from our WEN office.
