Education Program Internship
WEN is seeking an unpaid intern for the spring semester to help in their process of aligning WEN curriculum with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Responsibilities would include being trained in WEN curriculum, reading and analyzing NGSS, continuing the construction of our program alignment manual to be used by perspective WEN instructors and local school teachers alike, and other duties as assigned. As Missoula County Public Schools and other districts in western Montana transition into using NGSS, this intern will have the unique opportunity to work in conjunction with local teachers. As a WEN intern, you also have to opportunity of instructing our educational programs, if you so desire. Education background/major desired. Familiarity with NGSS preferred, but not required. WEN is recruiting for an unpaid intern for the spring semester to help in their much needed communications department. Some responsibilities for this position include social media updates, email communications to donors, volunteers, teachers, etc., and other miscellaneous communications such as press releases. As a WEN intern, you also have to opportunity of working first hand with our educational programs if you so desire. Familiarity with social media sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogspot, etc.) preferred but not required. Internships with WEN are dispersed among our many programs depending upon the interest of the student and the number of credit hours needed. Internships are typically limited to either 1-2 credits, translating to 3-6 hours/week.
An internship with WEN will often involve some field component, but can be focused a number of different ways. Some past projects and examples include: field program assistant, curriculum development, WEN Flagship program assistant, technology, community outreach, equipment and database management, grant development and more. We are open to your ideas!
