About the Event
2019 is a big year for Watershed Education Network!
We have two main projects that need community support:
Back Country Stream Team: This is a citizen science team of people who will access the upper reaches of Rattlesnake Creek by hiking and biking to collect crucial data during the summer and fall of 2019. In collaboration with our Trout Unlimited partners, we will engage our community members, train them in new protocols for collecting fish habitat data in the creek during a proposed dam removal project. The back country data - from the Rattlesnake Wilderness and Recreation Area - is an important piece to the puzzle of the decline of Bull Trout spawning in Rattlesnake Creek.
Adopt-A-Class: We are also striving to provide for five classes from under-served or low-income schools which need to get their students out to the river, experiencing the wonders and water science of a field trip. You can help us make that possible.
Why is Adopt-A-Class important?
Outdoor education, especially field trips, are rare for most schools in western Montana.
For many K-12 classes, our programs provide their first guided experience at the river’s edge (read teacher testimony).
WEN’s programs inspire a new generation of watershed stewards and creative minds. Working together we can bring them outside: one classroom, one child at a time.
Many classrooms in more rural and under-served schools cannot afford WEN’s programs.
Your gift would help fund:
Pre- and post- field trip classroom presentations.
Field trips to rivers, streams and wetlands.
Innovative, hands-on learning experiences for students in urban, rural and tribal areas in western Montana.
Help us make our river programs available to all western Montana kids by donating today.
